How to FORMAT FLOPPY disks on Athena

One can use the mformat command to format 1.44 MB floppies in DOS
format (readable by PC's running Windows and all Athena platforms). 

To do type at the athena prompt:

add mtools; mformat a:

One can also format floppies for use on Macintosh workstations, by
typing

add hfstools; hformat devicename
 
where devicename is /dev/fd0 on Linux workstations,
/vol/dev/aliases/floppy0 on Sun workstations, and /dev/rdsk/fds0d2.3.5
on SGI O2's

If you're having problems doing this on Sun workstations, you might
try typing "volcheck" at the athena prompt, and starting over.
