Three Subjects

  • 21A.100 Introduction to Anthropology
    OR
  • 21A.109 How Culture Works
  • Two other anthropology subjects (not to include 21A.100 or 21A.109)


MINOR

Six Subjects

  • 21A.100 Introduction to Anthropology
    OR
  • 21A.109 How Culture Works
  • Four subjects with a unifying theme (not to include 21A.100 or 21A.109)
and, EITHER
  • 21A.510 Seminar in Anthropological Theory
    OR
  • 21A.512 Seminar in Ethnography and Fieldwork

All classes must be taken for a letter grade and must carry at least 9 units of credit.


FULL MAJOR

Twelve Subjects

  • Four Required subjects: 21A.100, 21A.109, 21A.510, and 21A.512
  • Six anthropology subjects that make up a coherent program
  • 21A.ThT and 21A.ThU (with faculty approval, an honors thesis)
    OR
  • Two additional anthropology subjects


JOINT MAJOR, XXI-E or XXI-S (Leading to a Bachelor of Science in Humanities and Engineering or a Bachelor of Science in Humanities and Science)

Nine Subjects

  • Three required subjects: 21A.100 OR 21A.109, 21A.510, 21A.512
  • Four or more restricted electives
