Dr. Soulaymane Kachani




Dr. Soulaymane Kachani is an assistant professor in the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research Department at Columbia University. He is a co-inventor of patented and patent-pending asset allocation models. Dr. Kachani holds a Master of Science and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the MIT Sloan School of Management. He also holds a Diplome d'ingenieur in Applied Mathematics from Ecole Centrale de Paris. He was the recipient of the MIT Center for Transportation Studies UPS Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship, the MIT Robert Guenassia Fellowship, the French Government Fellowship of Academic Excellence, and the Moroccan Government Fellowship of Merit.

Dr. Kachani is as an Editor of the Journal on Revenue Management and Pricing and of the International Journal of Services Operations and Informatics. He is also an Associate Editor of the Networks and Spatial Economics Journal. He serves on Columbias Senate -the university's governing body- as sole representative of tenure-track faculty members of the School of Engineering. At MIT, Dr. Kachani was very active in student government, and served as President of the Graduate Student Council. He was a keynote Speaker, representing the graduate student body, at the MIT Commencement Exercise. He is a recipient of the Karl Taylor Compton Prize, the highest award presented by MIT to students and student organizations in recognition of achievements in citizenship and devotion to the welfare of MIT.

At the May 2005 Commencement Ceremonies, Dr. Kachani will be one of the two recipients of the Columbia Engineering School Alumni Association Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award for dedication to teaching and devotion to the mentoring of students".
