The Council for the Arts at MIT has announced the first event of its 2000-2001 "Performing Arts Excursion Series," a program established in 1994 to provide opportunities for students to attend some of the Boston area's finest music, theater and dance events at no or reduced cost. Each year, a limited number of free tickets are provided to productions ranging from the traditional and mainstream to the experimental and avant-garde.
This year's series opens with free tickets to a performance of Pet Brick Productions' The Water Engine, David Mamet's thriller set at Chicago's 1934 Century of Progress World's Fair. Tickets are for Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2pm at the Tremont Theater (276 Tremont St, Boston).
MIT students should sign up, in person only, at the Office of the Arts (E15-205), with a valid MIT student ID. One ticket per student ID. Information: 253-4005.
