BMOP releases new Harbison recording 'Ulysses: Complete Ballet'

(March 3, 2008)

A recording of MIT Institute Professor John Harbison's Ulysses--Complete Ballet (1984, rev. 2003) was released on March 1, 2008, on BMOP/sound, the new signature record label of BMOP (Boston Modern Orchestra Project).

Conducted by Gil Rose, BMOP's founding Artistic Director and the Executive Producer of BMOP/sound, Ulysses had its world premiere complete performance on October 3, 2003.

"Ulysses may be most potent in its recorded form," wrote the Boston Globe. "In that case we're in luck. Gil Rose and his BMOP forces gave it their everything -- a detailed, rich, ravishing performance. The upcoming CD will be one to have."

BMOP/sound explores the evolution of the music formerly known as classical. Its eclectic catalog offers both rediscovered classics of the 20th Century and the music of today's most influential and innovative composers. BMOP/sound gives adventurous listeners a singular opportunity to explore the music that is defining this generation and the next.
