Creative Arts Council
Headed by MIT's Associate Provost, the Creative Arts Council was established
in the fall of 1989 to take its place beside the other faculty councils and to bridge the gaps
between arts programs residing in different schools and department within the Institute. The Creative
Arts Council advises the Associate Provost in individual programmatic areas, general curricular
issues, facilities, fund-raising, and MIT's relation to outside cultural and educational institutions.
Members consist of arts leaders from across campus, including the dean of the School of Humanities and Social
Science; dean of the School of Architecture and Planning; Chairs of Architecture, Media Arts and Science, and Music
and Theater Arts; the Directors of the Office of the Arts, the List Visual Arts Center, The MIT Museum, Theater
Arts, and Visual Arts; and Dean's Representatives from the School of Engineering, the School of Management, and
the School of Science.
