OPEN AUDITIONS: MIT Symphony Orchestra

Cambridge, MA...The MIT Symphony Orchestra (MITSO), under the direction of Adam Boyles, will be holding auditions for the spring term on Sunday, February 3 from 10am-9pm, and Tuesday, February 5 from 10am-3pm. All MIT community members and non-MIT musicians are welcome to audition. String players are strongly encouraged to apply.

Membership: Rehearsal and concert attendance is required for all MITSO members. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7:30-10pm in Kresge Auditorium (48 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge, MA). Concerts for the spring term are at 8pm on March 14 and May 9. Repertoire will include Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz, Overture to the Magic Flute by Mozart, Piano Concerto in G major by Ravel, Naenie by Brahms, and Five Mystical Songs by Vaughan Williams

MITSO is a student orchestra at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and all positions are unpaid.

Audition Requirements: Two short, contrasting solos or etudes, sight-reading and scales. Auditions are by appointment only. Contact joya@mit.edu to set up an audition time.
