Architecture
Since establishing the nation's first architecture program in 1865, MIT has become an internationally recognized center of excellence in architecture. The Department of Architecture offers degree programs for undergraduate and professional education as well as advanced studies to the doctoral level. The Department hosts student and faculty exhibitions, along with public lectures by leading architects from around the world. The MIT campus boasts buildings designed by modern masters such as Alvar Aalto, Eero Saarinen and I.M. Pei.
MIT is also home to significant architecture collections such as the MIT Museum Architecture and Design Collection and the Rotch Visual Collections.
