Old Business: HANSORI has passed in the hazing form and satisfied the membeship clause FULLY RECOGNIZE HANSORI on 5/10/94 New Business: MIT Paintball Club: didn't get 5 or 50% clause, MIT student for President, Treasurer, Hazing form, quorem specification. -----------Provisionally recognize 5/10/94 American Jiu Jitsu @ MIT: No major problems - didn't list term of office, quorem for elections, or 5 /50% MIT voting membership, hardship clause needs work - ---------Provisioually Recognized 5/10 MIT chapter of Student Pugwash USA: many problems with constitution. No specific pres or treas, no hazing, no 5 or 50% MIT student membership, didn't state quorem or how decisions are made in meetings, need quorem for elections and ammendements, no cluase for removal or replacement of officers. NOT Recognized NEW Business: Mailing for next summer - do we want to get rid of the book - this should be discussed at the first general body meeting in the fall. the Tech and LSC are both willing to subsidize. GSC might be willing to put up some $$$ for a grad student mailing. ***** NOTE THIS GOES ON NEXT GENERAL BODY AGENDA ******** Athena accounts phase out - news from Matt Goodman - it's pretty much over, nothing we can do about it, Goodman claims that it's pretty easy to get guest account. If, however, activities are complaining about not being able to get guest accounts, then we might speak up. Metal Detectors: who gets the cost for this, how applicable is it? As stated now, they are only for parties of 250 or more people, how many of those do we have a year. Theoretically, this was a student initiative, that some student groups actually wanted metal detectors at some parties. From this it has been mutilated into a mandatory occasion. ASA official stance: We are against the mandatory use of metal detectors. We are also surprised that the CPs intend to train students to operate the metal dectors - so what do we do with the people who trip it? Would rather have a CP assigned to a party rather than a metal detector. Should only be required for open parties. => against for a) mandator b) student run detectors c) arbitrary implimentation - 250 people, alcohol, bands, d) should be only for parties with non-MIT allowed e) would rather have another CP f) Only reasonable if 1) voluntary by the organizers of the party, as was the original intent 2) The CPs set up and run the detectors. Take this to Susan Allen, figure out who to flame to.
