Ted & Jocelyn will let us know where to meet (at walker). No space in Student Centre basement. LSC printers, if moved, need ventilation. Controversial issue of the week: Singaporean Student Society: ad space? It's against Athena Rules of Use? Not really, since it benefits a group rather than an individual. Gut feeling: bad. General assumption that it's always been 'no'. Getting groups money for a little logo space is good. We think it's fine but it's out of our jurisdiction. But still keep us in the loop. We have no reason to stop you from doing it but keep us informed as to how things are going to happen. Lex will follow up on this. Hindu Student Council. They still exist. Edmund was mad at them. Now he's not there. Jocelyn will let them know of their existence. Asian Athletics Association. They were asked why they want to be recognized. They want to be recognized because other asian cultural groups have no time/money to support athletics. 'To promote well-being and health'. Asian = KSA, ATS, SANGAM, etc. Athletics = Intramurals, sports groups. Would it benefit non-asians? If they want money they could apply to the revamped LEF (which no longer gives out $30,000 per event). They probably want to be recognized for money. Could there be any other reasons? CSC organizes intercollegiate events too. The opportunity to organize events can be done through existing means other than starting their own group. Therefore, we don't recognize the need for their group and they can come to talk to us during officer hours. They can approach other Asian groups or LEF to come to Finboard updates and ask for more money. Brian will take care of them. Next ASA meeting will be later because Jocelyn has an exam from 7:30 to 9:30pm. Brian has mailed groups in which presidents/treasurers haven't changed over time. Rekeying of offices on 4th floor of W20. It's a good time for CAC to revamp their key handling. Only students, staff and faculty get keys? What about alums, affiliates? Lex will write up something to give us all the perspective on the issue of rekeying and distribution of keys. MIT Concert Band. Music dept. wants to take over control of concert band from the student leaders. We will support them as a student group, but Music dept. can take away their privileges (credit, rooming, etc). They may want to talk to Dramashop & Shakespeare. Jen Berk will communicate to the band. Techies for Bradley. They never returned Jen Berk's mail. So we'll ignore them until they reply. Making a friendlier front to Setup ASA/Reaper. We just want to change what the text says and reorder some of the options (like Setup should be 1.) Jocelyn and Jen Berk will work on this together. asa-official problem: it uses bcc to send to everybody. Pacific-Carrier-Annex can't cope with the mass of bccs in order to weed out all the duplicated email addresses. Solution: breaking up the file into thirds and sending each separately. This splitter program will probably be written by SIPB as external to the Reaper. Jocelyn will deal. Alvar hasn't deposited all the AV checks from midway. He will give it to Philip to deposit. It's about $800. Alvar has talked to Planning office to try to grab bulletin boards from Bldg 15 and 56. Things look good and he will hear back from them on Friday. GSC is happy about uber-board. GSC has no Edmund. They'd like to help us. Jocelyn will be meeting with Roz Williams to discuss this further. Jen Berk: UA is not adamantly opposed towards it. Don't insult her bosses. We went through the Financial situation. Money that we haven't received: $5575 from ODSUE, $800 from Alvar's AV stuff, $1190 from money untransferred from groups for their summer mailing. We have not been charged $2500 for Midway furniture yet, which is covered by $1500 from Liz (?) and $1000 from the UA. This leaves us with a deficit of $3-6.
