Office Hours - Pro-Democracy - MIT Students for Israel - Arts and Technology (see article 1.5) 1. New Group Recognitions -MIMEtype - mime troupe. all good. JENC will reaperize. -Club Z - Neutral social club. Need us for space and funding. We feel there are other organizations that could help them acheive their ends (CAC program board). Will tell to defer recognition until they have contacted and tried to plan an event with alternate organizations. PHILIP will email. 1.5 Old New Group Recognitions - Nautical Association - pending - Arts and Technology Group - all good, JENC will reaperize - MIT Students for Israel - a political group, distinct purpose. PHILIP will email about the problems with their constitution. - Worst Movie Ever Club - pending - Ulysses Project - revisions complete, JENC will reaperize - MIT March of Dimes - pending, PHILIP will email - MIT Formula SAE Team - small election problem in constitution. ALVAR will email. will be recognized once problem fixed. - MIT Informs - cleared stuff up, JENC will reaperize - Gender Forum - pending, JES will send reminder email - Pro-Democracy TV - they want to take over student cable, we let them know it won't happen. Still confused about how they'll actually get a new cable station. They don't know either. Student Cable would rather have them be a content provider on the station. We will delay recognition until we get a concrete plan of the implementation of their idea. 2. Athletic Groups - Candace, new athletics head, wants to move all non-competitive groups out of her jurisdiction (read, budget). Soulamayne proposed a joint athletics fund from UA, GSC, Athletics dept. - Card readers are in place in athletics facilities. - Idea to hire a new admin to deal solely with IM/Club sports introduced. - Lots of legal issues. Athletics wants us to add a greater percentage of MIT students/Community to the currently 5/50% clause in constitutions. - Also, talk of having athletics dept deal with every sport group. - Sport/World Taekwondo, Isshinryu Karate-do have pending recognitions. - Candace wants a moratorium on recognitions of new athletic groups until this is figured out. But, groups with applications on hold can approach the athletic dept for space and funding in the meantime. 3. Database Update (Alvar) -Progress has been slow. -Need to have specifications for all of the pages and make mock-up pages. -Deadline (for Philip), end of spring break. -Need a webserver computer and database server computer, need to talk to IS. 4. DERECOGNITIONS!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (Brian) -There are 70 groups that were bad and did not hand in a constitution. -7 of them have not updated their DB info in more than a year. They will be derecognized permanently. Everything will be purged. -The other 63 groups will be commented out of the reaper (a temporary derecognition) and we will send mail telling them this. Then we will watch. 5. meeting with Tracy on Tuesday, 4pm -Come. 6. 'other' (critique of bad taste?) -There is a move to include more grad events in orientation. Problem: their events happen before the midway. Decision: they can publicize when there are only grad students around prior to the midway, no public posters, etc. -Alvar made a pretty poster stating ASA poster regulations. Will soon go up on bulletin boards. -In talking to Tracy it was made clear that we need to revamp our constitution and clearly outline what we do and what we are capable of doing. -Philip talked about what should be on our budget: 'Operating', Computer (software for database), Midway (+ t-shirts), FYSM, SAD, GBM AV, Bulletin Board Revamp?, SBM
