ASA Meeting Minutes 10/23/08 8:00-10:00 Attendance: Keone, Rishi, Shan, Nan, Zhou, Rachel, Gillian allocating mailboxes -- system up and running, small thing but good and important GPI postering on lobby 10, leaving tape residues possible unclearness with murj on office space Rishi: Tried fysm on php over summer for kicks; no good. Moving it to python. .. maybe we should move to usb, or paper/book mailing. Shan: group recognition, esp. re provisional groups. Rachel proposed something, it looks fine, do we need to have it approved at GBM to put it into effect? No, good. For provisional groups, decided that: voting at GBM yes, LEF/ARCADE yes, CAC reservations with SAO's approval, use of MIT name yes, etc .. Details will be posted on the ASA website. (edit: obsoleted by subsequent discussion) Instead of {full, provisional, sponsored} status, a better system is fundable/non-fundable, since really we want (almost) everybody that wants it to have access to non-limited resources (eg. rooms, MIT name, fysm). Details will be on the website, and groups are encouraged to come to the town hall meetings to talk to us about it. Existing full and sponsored groups won't really be affected, but current provisional groups might be. Will be voted on this GBM. Townhall meetings before then: Wed. Nov. 5, Tue. Nov. 11, both at 7:15 pm GBM: 34-101, Mon. Nov 17. Check-in starting at 7, meeting starting at 7:30 Rachel: Nerds for Christ: 7-0-0 provisional Greek IV: 6-0-1 sponsored by ResLife UAV: didn't get back to us Film Coop: 7-0-0 full contigent on Campus Movie Fest being dead BE UB: maybe they think we're getting back to them, whereas we're waiting for them to get back to us Paper Saving: waiting to hear back Let's meet with Dean Columbo. He's living in Next House, so meeting at night is feasible. Nan: FAQ -- some low hanging fruit: eg. questions regarding database access. Our grad student didn't have edit access to the database till recently. Gillian: bulletin boards -- should tell groups to put their names prominently. Also, we probably don't have the keys to our own boards. Probably could just pick the lock, but maybe the CPs will be unhappy if they catch us.
