ASA Minutes 12/2/08 Attendance: Keone, Rachel, Rishi, Nan, Shan, Dylon, Leonid, Zhou, Paul 2.5 hours Fire Alarm Vote to ignore fire alarm falls to floor, meeting moved to 5-233 Welcome Dylon and Leonid! Vote to put what we said we'd do at GBM into effect (officially): yes [Note: Last year we recognized a bunch of groups, but entered them into the database as provisional (due to database defaults).] Move all groups recognized before '08-'09 school year (except living groups) that signed the hazing form this year to funded status. This includes ~100 groups that are currently considered provisional, but that essentially have been operating as full groups: pass 8-0-1 (8?! wow.) Clean up website, make application easier for groups that just want unfunded status: Zhou ugh, need to update old database, even though it's barely worth the diskspace on its ~worthless server: Rachel New Groups: Students for Bhopal, MIT: unfunded 7-0-2 Platypus, MIT: unfunded 9-0-0 Sojourn Collegiate Ministry: unfunded 9-0-0 MITRAAS: funded 7-0-2 UAV Team: sponsored [by Course 16/Edgerton], funded 9-0-0 contingent on getting sponsorship letters OpenLabWare: funded 8-0-1 Libertarian Assoc, MIT: funded 8-0-0 Chinese Ensemble, MIT: funded 8-0-0 Networks Initiative, MIT: sponsored by MIT System Design and Management Program (SDM), funded whiteballot Dorm Electricity Competition: unfunded 9-0-1 What to do about all the religious groups? Currently there are 30, 10 of which are Christian. Hillel has O(10) subgroups for each of its 'denominations'. Ideally the Christians would do the same (we get a new one applying every term ..). Chaplain doesn't want to deal with it. We could get a group of students to do it .. that's harder than for sports/charity stuff, though, since the group would have to be balanced in terms of diversity. Greek IV: Leonid will send mail MIT Student Research Assoc: Leonid will send mail Zhou: postering violations .. we could fine them. In any case, we should update our own board. Recruitment rules: do we want to keep them or not? We can deal with this later. -Rishi
