Do you currently have a board

Yes, we currently have a board across from Room 8-102 in the Infinite Corridor (near the end).

Have you had a board in the past

Uncertain if there was a different location in the past.

What are your plans for your space

ARCTAN puts on a variety of activities involving the entire campus, and it is important that these activities are publicized in a highly visible area in order for students to know about them. Moreover, having an official bulletin space will make ARCTAN known to students as an official group on campus in case they want to get involved with volunteering or the Red Cross. For instance, we put on Blood Wars every year, a competition among living groups to see who can donate the most blood during our blood drive week. We also have subsidized large-scale CPR/First Aid classes many times a semester (we charge only ~$25 as opposed to the normal ~$60 course fee). Students will not know about these wonderful opportunities unless we publicize well. With bulletin board space in the Infinite being an area every MIT student passes by everyday, we feel publicizing our events there will be extremely effective.

Where would you like the space

We would like to have a space of high visibility along the Infinite Corridor. The current location or near the Public Service Center (Room 4-104) is preferable.

How much bulletin board space do you need

We plan to use the space to publicize our upcoming events such as blood drives, CPR classes, general information about ARCTAN, and an activities calendar. The current space (half of the full-length board) is sufficient.

Yes. Board 12F.

What are your plans for your space

We often display posters of the events we hold on our bulleting board. As we hold events every week and often more than once a week, we have need of poster space to convey that information. In addition, we use the board as a means of letting people know who we are. There's a lot of misconceptions about what we do, and we believe the board helps clear some of that up.

Where would you like the space

We could prefer not to move from our old location. 12F would be preferable.

How much bulletin board space do you need

We will keep using the board as we have used it in the past: as a means of communicating to the MIT public what events we are currently holding, and as a means of letting new potential members know who we are and where they can find us.

Do you currently have a board

No, we currently don’t have a board.

Have you had a board in the past

We had a board two years ago near building 56.

What are your plans for your space

We are an extremely active cultural club on campus and are looking to expand our presence. Each year we hold numerous monthly events including cultural dinners, career and political panels and community service events. Just last year we held four cultural dinners, a law panel, fundraisers for Hurricane Katrina, habitat for humanity and a political forum where we invited Sam Yoon, current city councilor -- all in addition to our annual cultural show, Grains of Rice, which attracts around 400 people every year. In recognition of our events, the Student Life Program gave us two Community Building Awards last spring. Thus far we have relied on email lists, publicity flyers, activities midway and primarily word of mouth to attract new members. We feel we would benefit significantly from a bulletin board as it will provide ways both to keep our current members up to date without spamming, and to advertise to potential new members.

Where would you like the space

We would like to have a space along the infinite corridor. The second best choice would be in building 56/16.

How much bulletin board space do you need

We plan to post information of our upcoming events on the bulletin board so that members will not miss out on any of them. Also, we plan to post photos to showcase our previous events and to give nonmembers a sense of what our club is about. A space of 3x2 feet would be ideal.

Do you currently have a board

No we do not.

Have you had a board in the past

yes, we had a board in the infinite, specifically building 3

What are your plans for your space

We hold numerous events througout the year, all open to the MIT public. We hold approximately one event every two weeks with the goal of reaching out to the MIT community with innovative ideas for spreading Taiwnese culture. Because we do not have a board space currently, we have to make do with emails (that people often miss due to a flood of emails they may already be receiving) and with with postering the Infinite in public spaces. Because of postering frequently in public spaces, we often have to tear down and reposter every time the public board is cleaned. Additionally, because of the numerous other posters in this space, it is often difficult for passerbys to see our posters despite our efforts to make them stand out. As a result, we often personally get asked when our events are by interested members AND nonmembers, and this is only possible if they run into us. We believe that if we had board space, we can publicize to the community much better by all!

Where would you like the space

We would like to be somewhere in the Infinite. Building 3, 7, 4, or 8 along the infinite would be great!

How much bulletin board space do you need

We would put posters on our board advertising our events, cycling them with each new event (and probably having 2 up at a time due to our high frequency of events). Additionally, we would put up permanently photos representing our events and the wonders of Taiwanese culture to encourage more involvement, as well as club contact information for those people who are interested. Furthermore, we frequently have contacts such as the Boston Intercollegiate Taiwanese Students Association and the Intercollegiate Taiwanese American Students Association asking to publicize events that will get MIT students more involved at the intercollegiate level, but do not poster for them due to the 1 poster per public board rule (and our events being more highly prioritized for us), and would use our board to post up 1 or 2 flyers for these outside organizations that would appeal to those students who want to get even more involved with the Taiwanese-American community. We would lik!

Yes - also in the infinite

What are your plans for your space

We depend on our board space as one of the primary means to notify people of the current shows we are producing. Theater is all about publicity when it comes to getting audiences, and having a board in the infinite is the best way to continuously keep people notified of our show status.

Where would you like the space

We would most definitely like to stay in the infinite. It worked well this year with all the theater groups in a localized area with more or less the same amount of board space. But being in the infinite is essential to keep outside interest in our group alive.

How much bulletin board space do you need

The current amount of space we have is slightly smaller than what we've had in the past. We accomodate as needed, but at times, a larger board is nice if we have multiple things we are doing that we want to publicize. We always keep our board up-to-date, letting any members and potential members when such things as auditions, performances, special guest artist talks, etc. are being held.

Do you currently have a board

Yes, we are currently allocated Board 18, just off the Infinite Corridor.

Have you had a board in the past

Yes, previously, we were assigned Board 7.

What are your plans for your space

We use the board for multiple purposes: To present ESP and our programs to the MIT Community as an active student organization--the presence of ESP and what we do on the infinite corridor is crucial to our continued relevance to the MIT community. In addition, during our programs, our board serves as a central point of contact as we post large class schedules and room locations for our students to see.

Where would you like the space

On the infinite corridor is best, as it is for everybody. All things being equal, Blgs 3, 10, or 4 are preferred over 7 and 8.

How much bulletin board space do you need

We plan on continuing to post general information about ESP and increasing the timeliness of our repostering to put up information relevant to that week. We have a fancy LED set that we are currently programming for use in the bulletin board. Again, we will continue to use the board during our programs as a site for class schedules, etc. Ideally, we would like to return to our previous location at Board 7. Otherwise, we would appreciate staying where we are at Board 18, or another board with an increase in space. Having less space would be detrimental to the multiple purposes to which we put our board.

It is a perpetual announcement of our group's presence on campus, providing interested members of the MIT community with an overview of our group and practice locations and times (beginners are always welcome) which is especially helpful as the semester becomes busier. It helps show the vitality of club sports at MIT and our club in particular.

Do you currently have a board

Yes. 17B. Near the end of the infinite corridor. Next to the entrance to the Office of Minority Education. Near the Building 4 Cafe.

Have you had a board in the past

No. We were just recently awarded the space during the reallocations.

What are your plans for your space

Our organization represents a small minority group on campus; with the board, we will be able to display our upcoming events as well as photos and displays of previous events. This will help other students who are interested in topics we cover but are not aware of the group see that we exist. This will also help our group showcase our current members.

Where would you like the space

The same general location would be great, as many of the students that are in our organization stop by regularly at Office of Minority Education. We would prefer a higher location if possible, so that students will not have as easy of a time tearing down our flyers (this was a BIG problem last semester, where we lost many pictures).

How much bulletin board space do you need

We have already made plans to create a large laminated poster that will cover the entire space we had this last semester (roughly 30X40). The poster will be bordered by pictures of our membership at our different events (i.e. community service, conferences, lectures) and the center will be a place where we can tape the current posters for upcoming events. This should hopefully avoid the problem of getting our pictures torn down.

Where would you like the space

I would like it to stay with the other a cappella groups' boards on the infinite.

Where would you like the space

We've spent many years below the best line-of-sight of the average student walking by. If we could be moved up higher, we would be able to increase our visibility.

How much bulletin board space do you need

We would at least like to keep our space. If possible, however, it would be a great help if our allotted space was slightly higher on the board because our current space is slightly obscure.

We haven't had a board in the past. Our group was created a few years ago and has been growing over the recent years.

What are your plans for your space

We feel that the francophone community at MIT (400+ students and staff) is very active and would appreciate a board to share information about our activities. We have a strong plan about it (see below). This is the first time we would have a board and we would make a great use of it.

Where would you like the space

Due to the nature of our events, we would strongly appreciate a space in buildings 16 or 56 near the European Club / Foreign Language department / Cultural Events. The Infinite corridor would be fine otherwise.

How much bulletin board space do you need

- We will run a French movie festival at MIT during Spring 07 (co-sponsored by the MIT-France program). This is a premiere at MIT and we have obtained the rights on the movies through the French consulate in Boston. We need space to display the schedule. - We run French conversational hours twice a week during the academic year. We need space to keep people updated. This is particularly useful for students learning French at MIT (hence the preferred locations below). - In addition, we run two special events per semester such as karaoke or cooking evenings. This event are always a success but we need to communicate more on them. A board would be very helpful. We would need about 3-4 feet in width and the same in height.

What are your plans for your space

To raise awareness of our group and encourage people to join, as well as to post announcements specifically about upcoming events.

Where would you like the space

We would prefer to keep 17O, as it's easier, but if for some reason that's not possible we would be happy with any space of similar size along that main section of the Infinite.

How much bulletin board space do you need

Our plans for the space would remain largely the same: prominently displaying our name, website, and officers' email list, as well as some informative Q&A about debate and a current schedule of the semester's events. We would like a space of the same size as 17O.

Do you currently have a board

We do not currently have a board.

Have you had a board in the past

I do not believe we have had a board in the recent past.

What are your plans for your space

MIT SAAS puts on many large and small events during each term and we often request infinite board space, lobby 7 space, lobby 10 space, and student center space for posters, signs, and ticket sales. We have a very large undergraduate and graduate general body and the bulletin board space would allow us to reach more of them through posters and annoucements. Many people have told us that the posters help and a board would be even better so that they knew where to go for recent and new SAAS annoucenments and events. We have 3 to 4 community service events a term, hold study breaks almost monthly, and put on quite a few large events that require a large amount of publicity. In the fall, we attend the Spiced Cruise along with almost all of the Boston area colleges, we put on Milan, our annual garba-raas that over 800 people attend annually, and in the spring, our Culture Show cells out Kresge every year and is one of the most well-known and attending evnets at MIT.

Where would you like the space

Our first choice is a board in the infinite so we could maximize how many undergraduates and graduate students see the board daily. If infinite space is not possible, any other buildin near the infinite would be extremely apprciated.

How much bulletin board space do you need

Our plans for the space are to put up posters that give announcements for our upcoming events and large posters for our bigger events like Spiced Cruise, Milan, and Culture Show. We woudl also like to put up a description of our organization and what we're about and how anyone can get involved in SAAS.

Do you currently have a board

We do -- we own space in the Infinite Corridor on the wall to one's left as one is heading eastward, near the intersection were the entrance to building 4 crosses the corridor.

Have you had a board in the past

Yes. I believe that we have owned this space for the past term or so; to my knowledge, the group has always owned board space somewhere since its inception, but as I am only a 2nd year student, I do not know where we owned space before my entrance at MIT.

What are your plans for your space

Our bulletin board has always been the best medium for conveying events that we sponsor as well as opportunities available to the general MIT campus community. Although we do moderate a group e-mail list, this only can reach students who have already expressed interest in MIT Students for Israel. The board space communicates to a wider audience and let's us promote to a general audience our featured speakers, discussion events, and cultural events. Also, MITSI is MIT's conduit to a host of external opportunities to college students, offered through external Israel-oriented organizations and programs. We use the board space to let the MIT community know about the opportunities/programs avaiable.+

Where would you like the space

Anywhere along the infinite corridor is great for obtaining the proper exposure to the general MIT community.

How much bulletin board space do you need

The space we currently own is sufficient. Our board space is divided into two columns. One has advertisements for our own featured events and speakers, the other is for programs/opportunities, as described above. The board gets updated about once a week depending on what we are planning.

How much bulletin board space do you need

Where would you like the space

Yes, around the fire hose near building 10, on the Infinite corridor

Have you had a board in the past

Yes, we had one on the other side of Lobby 10

What are your plans for your space

Somewhere where we can post announcements about new books, keep the Library's schedule posted, and generally advertise for MITSFS. It is important to have a high-traffic place where people can find our office hours, since they are irregular.

Where would you like the space

An upper board on the Infinite Corridor

How much bulletin board space do you need

We'd like to have a full board, instead of our current weirdly-shaped space. A bit more space would allow us to post full lists of the new books as they arrive---we currently don't have quite enough space.

We would like to advertise what we do as a group to the MIT Community. In addition to serving our peers in our living groups, both dorms and FSILG's, we also conduct monthly campus-wide events that we would like to advertise. I think having a bulletin board would allow us to increase awareness about our group and also advertise the services we provide to students.

Do you currently have a board

No.

Have you had a board in the past

Yes, though I am not certain exactly where our previous board was located. I believe it was somewhere along the Infinite Corridor.

What are your plans for your space

We would like a bulleting board space so that we can display information about events on campus. Since a large part of the MIT community is interested in international affairs and events, but would prefer not to remain on our mailing list (which receives many emails regarding conferences we attend), a bulletin board would provide us a way to reach those members of the MIT community. Last year, we had a panel of five European Consulates who spoke about economic, social, political, and cultural aspects of the European Union. Not surprisingly, our audience consisted of a wide range of the MIT community. We hope that a bulletin board will provide a permanent location that all MIT students can refer to for our events.

Where would you like the space

We would like our space in the Infinite Corridor, preferably west of Building 4. We would prefer to have our space at eye level, within approximately 3' to 6' from the ground.

How much bulletin board space do you need

We plan to use our bulletin board to provide a brief description of Model United Nations to reach out to students who did participate in Model UN in high school. We also plan to announce events on campus, including general body meetings, speaker events, panels, and simulations. Additionally, we hope to provide dates of conferences for the year, and the timeline for applications and committee selection. Finally, we will display articles and photos from our conferences, such as the one featured by MIT s Homepage Spotlight during the last day of CPW last year. We would like space approximately six square feet in area.

No, we currently do not have a board.

Have you had a board in the past

Mujeres has not had bulletin board space since I have been here (past 3 years), since we have just recently become an ASA recognized organization.

What are your plans for your space

Mujeres Latinas is requesting bulletin board space to show the MIT campus what a great organization we are. By increasing awareness, we hope to bring in new members, so that they can experience the physical, emotional and academic suport that the board members strive to provide at each event. We are the only organization on campus that seeks to enhance the college experience for Hispanic women of all backgrounds.

Where would you like the space

We would like our space to be along the infinite, near other cultural organizations, and at or near eye level.

Mujeres plans on using the space to advertise for upcoming events, display pictures from past succesful events to encourage other Mujeres to join, and to increase the overall awreness on the MIT campus of our newly ASA recognized organization.

In the age of increased interest on Islam around the world the MSA needs to advertise its events, which are usually meant to shed light on some contemporary issues, to the entire MIT community. Also, having the space will enable people who do not know about the MSA and are interested in it to know about it.

What are your plans for your space

Pagans tend to be difficult to find unless they know our group exists. The bulletin board serves as a way to publicize our existence (we are one of the very few colleges in the US that has an active pagan student group), explain a bit about what paganism is to curious people, and advertise our events.

Where would you like the space

Anywhere along the infinite corridor is fine.

How much bulletin board space do you need

I really like the current layout quite a bit. We've got a nice big poster with our logo and group name, contact information, and then three posters explaining some of the pagan philosophies represented by our group. Then, there's a bit of space left over for rotating posters for major events (though I haven't had a chance to put up the Samhain ones yet). I'm planning on very soon printing up a big poster at copytech to replace the current board. What's much more critical is that it's in a location that people will notice it. It's usually surprising that we have a PSG, so if it's not obvious from the midway and bulletin board, people won't realize we exist.

What are your plans for your space

We would like to use the bulletin board space to publicize for events that we hold. SEBC has already had over 20 events this semester, and we have many more planned before the year ends. We publicize our events via the public poster boards and email, but the bulletin board space would be more effective. The flyers that we post on the public boards are sometimes difficult to see with so many other flyers. We try to publicize our events as much as possible to our 1,500 student members, but also to the general MIT population.

Where would you like the space

Somewhere along the main Infinite Corridor would be greatly appreciated.

How much bulletin board space do you need

Our board is very excited to plan for the use of the bulletin board. We would include our logo and name at the top, followed by our contact and website information (all in color). The majority of the space would be used to publicize our upcoming events. Most of our event flyers are on colored paper with black text, but the bulletin would probably look best on white paper and colored text. We will cover the entire back of the bulletin with butcher paper. We definitely understand the importance of maintaining the aesthetics of the bulletin board space. A little larger than a standard poster board size space would be sufficient.

We were assigned a board in the Building 8 to 6 corridor (off the infinite) which was pretty much taken away by the construction project there. Even before construction, this was an unappealing location which was being vandalized and postered over on a weekly basis. With construction, we do not currently have a functional board.

Have you had a board in the past

Prior to this, we had a board on the infinite, at the intersection with building 4.

What are your plans for your space

We would like to make the MIT community more aware of WMBR as both a student activity and a media outlet on campus. We would like to let people know that: 1) MIT has a student-run radio station, 2) What kinds of shows we present and how people may listen (by conventional radio or streaming over the web), 3) and how students may join WMBR

Our plans for the space are to have specific information about what our group is about, what type of people (locally. nationally, and through history) have identified with our group. For instance, we'd have things like "Did you know Albert Einstein and Martin Luther King were Democratic Socialists?," and enumerate why. We also will have timelines and schedules for the lecture series we will be hosting, and keep people posted on important social issues in current events.
