Re-recognition Procedure
Re-recognition is possible for student groups that:
- want to change their recognition type, or
- have been suspended, or
- have lost their recognition for less than one year
Changing Recognition Type
Visit the Group Privileges pages to learn more about the types of recognition. To change your recognition type, please submit the following:
- The re-recognition form (PDF)
- Anti-hazing form (PDF)
- A statement of purpose letter which clearly indicates how the activity has changed and therefore requires the change of type.
- An updated copy of your constitution, with any relevant changes.
Suspended Groups
If a group has been suspended, then the following is necessary to regain active recognition status:
- The re-recognition form (PDF)
- Anti-hazing form (PDF)
- An updated copy of your constitution
- If the group was suspended due to financial reasons, the ASA Executive Board must receive approval from the Student Activities Finances Office to re-instate the group.
De-recognized Groups
If a group has been de-recognized for less than one year, and no new groups have been recognized which duplicate the purposes of the old group, then the following is necessary to regain active status:
- The re-recognition form (PDF)
- Anti-hazing form (PDF)
- A statement of purpose letter which indicates the purpose of the group as understood by the new leadership.
- An updated copy of your constitution
- If the group was de-recognized due to financial reasons, the ASA Executive Board must receive approval from the Student Activities Finances Office to re-instate the group.
