Sarah Theresa Craig, 3 April 1978 - 24 May 1996

as a teacher at hotchkiss said, loosing sarah was a world loss. it is still amazing to me how quickly all of our lives changed; sarah's gone, kept only in memories in our hearts, ours changed forever. i guess i just want to put here things about sarah, who she was, and about what has happened in the past 11 months.

a good mutual friend has sarah's home page linked to his - i think the forward shows again how much sarah is missed. sarah spent quite a bit of time on-line. many of the friends she made there were present at a on-line memorial service. also touching is a poem another mutual friend wrote. or, (and sarah would have hit me over the head with a large mythology/compsci text if she knew i would do this..) there are some pictures.

for those interested in knowing what has happened legally, the driver of the vehicle that hit sarah pleaded guilty and was sentenced on 15 Nov. 1996 to one count of second degree manslaughter, one count of assault, one count of drinking while intoxicated, and of making an illegal turn. Steven Driscoll was given the maximum sentences concurrently on all counts, fines remitted. half of his 10 year sentence is suspended. the conditions of his suspension are that he cannot drink, he cannot drive, and that he must donate $1000 to a charity that works against drug and/or alcohol abuse.

also, the technical theatre prize given to an individual or group of seniors who have greatly contributed to the HDA behind the scenes will be continue to be in sarah's name. and the new black box theater in the school will be dedicated in sarah's memory and a sign hung that will say, "Technical facilities of this Black Box Theatre is maintained in the memory of Sarah T. Craig". Funds are still be solicited for an endowment which was started by Judge Barrow.
