ASCE Competitions

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) hosts intercollegiate competitions at both regional conference and national levels. MIT CEE students have participated in both the Concrete Canoe and the Steel Bridge Competitions in the past, and we are planning on participating in both of these events once again in Spring 2008!

The ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition: having not had a concrete canoe team in several years at MIT, CEESA is proud to announce the return of our participation in time for the 2008 conferences! Teams construct canoes out of concrete, and then race them in open waters. The final competition isn't until June, so there is a lot of time to join the team if you feel that you would be interested in participating.

The AISC/ASCE Steel Bridge Competition: after a phenomenal showing at last year's national competition for the construction and assembly of a steel bridge, the MIT steel bridge team hopes for an equally good (or even better! Is that possible?!) showing in the competition in 2008. Don't worry - there's still time to get involved!
