DCEE

The Discover Civil and Environmental Engineering pre-orientation program (or, DCEE) is a one-week introduction to campus life and to the CEE major offered to incoming freshman who want to settle in a little before the regular orientation begins in August. MIT freshmen don’t select a major until midpoint in the spring term, but incoming freshmen generally select an FPOP in a department that interests them.

The mentored groups/design-and-build teams of freshmen are led by an undergratuate majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering, both to serve as a design expert for the teams and as a mentor for the perspective CEE students. Many students who participate in the DCEE program chose to remain in the CEE program, both for the exciting course work and for the strong student community fostered under CEESA.
