In celebration of getting tens of thousands in easily convertible scrip, Jenny, Pilot, and Whitney play a virtual reality game - Mind of the Deep! Whitney is a bit reluctant, but goes along with it anyway.
Linda
The main character. After the events of Eyes of the Deep, she returned to Earth but slowly developed a strange wasting disease. Now she has returned to Poseidon for an experimental treatment at the Negosoft High Pressure Treatment Center. Linda is blonde, busty to the point of unlikeliness, and athletic without being unattractively muscular. Linda is an expert at improvising solutions to problems in tight situations, as was demonstrated in Eyes of the Deep.
John
Scientist. John is a scientist/technician for Negosoft, and helped remove the aborigine material from Linda a month ago. He's pretty sure that the material is being used somewhere to make new organisms. He would prefer not to admit his complicity in the whole thing, or Negosoft's, being basically a company man, but he does have a moral compass of and will do so eventually.
This morning all hell broke loose and these... things... started killing the crew. He fled to the medical wing and then shut himself in a treatment couch, reasoning that it would protect him.
John is tall and gangly, but would look quite good if he took off his taped glasses and did something with his hair.
Brenda
Brenda used to be a soldier. But then her buddies were all killed by terrorists in Sierra Nueva, and she snapped Afterwards, she hasn't been good for much, but just recently got a job as a janitor at the Negosoft High Pressure Facility. She looks like a Sarah Connor character - as soon as she strips to a tank top for action it will be revealed that she's very muscular.
Jenny gets to be the main character, Pilot the scientist, and Whitney the ex-army-special-forces-janitor. they play through the first two areas of the game, finding mutant aborigine forces over-running the base and incubating new aborigine mutants inside humans. They die quite a few times trying to take out a whole auditorium full of mutants, but succeed. Making their way from the hospital wing to engineering, they confront a wild aborigine queen attempting to enter the base, and kill her using a cargo grapple and oxygen tanks.
