Back before she joined the posse Tobey could be described as follows:

Tobey Irwin is a middle-aged women of average height. She's strong for a woman and doesn't hide it. She keeps her shoulder-length gray hair in a single braid, usually tucked into her shirt, but sometimes pinned up on her head. Her skin is tanned and leathery. Her only noticable features are her eyes, which seem green in some light. She rarely wears skirts, preferring the functionality of heavyweight trousers. She favors an animal skin coat that on closer inspection is a hodgepodge of creatures.

Then, at her worst, she looked like this:

The first thing you notice about Tobey Irwin is the smell. It seems to be coming from the blood-spattered carcass she's wearing as a coat. Well, maybe that's tanned. You can't quite tell through the blood, the holes, and you don't want to know what else. Her long braided hair is pinned up under some sort of thick bonnet. She also has some sort of leathery collar wrapped around her neck. You glance at her face and regret it. One green eye stares back at you. Her nose looks ok. But the right side of her face... lets just say it's deeply scarred. A patch covers her right eye. She is rarely without a weapon, usually holding a rifle by her side.

At the moment she's trying something new...

The first thing you notice about Tobey Irwin is the smell. It just ain't right for a women to smell of cigars. It's mingled with some strong perfume, too, and the combination is certainly noticable. She tends to hold her head askew, peering at you out of her good left eye. The right side of her face tells the story of something awful happening long ago. A coil of gray hair peeks out from under her hat. Tobey sure moves fast for an old lady. She uses her nicely carved cane more as a pointer than as a walking stick. A disturbingly large knife hangs from her side. Put all that together with her fancy Bloomers and she's either really rich or somewhat crazy. Maybe both.

Background

Tobey is knowledgable about animals of all types and has been making a living as a big game hunter/tracker. She prefers the great outdoors to being cooped up inside.

Her husband ran off to mine ghost rock some years ago.

Her dog Ginger is retriever-sized mutt with a good sense of when to go into hiding. Which is more and more often these days.

Preferred Weapons:

Winchester 1873 Repeating Rifle. The Winchester carries seventeen shots in its tube magazine, is reloaded through a loading gate just forward of the trigger, and is advanced through a lever action mechanism. All this combines to make an incredibly easy to use gun that "you can shoot all week and reload on Sunday." The Winchester is not a long range or big game rifle, however.

Ghost Rock Vapor Compression Rifle. This five shot rifle uses nuggets of ghost rock to power its large caliber bullets. It has excellent range and very good damage.

That's not a knife. The evil machete, when only decapitation will do. Tobey draws this machete disturbingly quickly. It does damage like a large caliber weapon. So far it's cut through anything. It always looks tarnished, and if you're not Tobey you're likely to get cut if you try to use it.

Sharps Big .50. The Sharps has everything you want in a rifle - long range, huge caliber, and well built too. Unfortunately, it only holds a single bullet at a time. But place that bullet well and you can stop a buffalo in its tracks. Unfortunately the Rattlers ate it.
