The spring intramural affliation meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 7 at 7:30pm in room 1-109. Anyone interested in learning more about joining IMs or managing a spring league is invited to attend.

Interested in playing a sport or creating a team?
You can create a team with your friends, dorm mates or office mates and enter a league as an independent team or your team can be part of an Affiliation—your dorm, your fraternity or sorority, your department, etc. Affiliations have Athletic Chairs that can help you add your team to a league.

All intramural team participants must be registered on Athleague.com.
Go to http://www.athleague.com/home and sign in to create your MIT account.

Fall Registration and Dates
Welcome back, everyone! Some important IM dates for the fall semester:

  • Registration for fall intramural sports will open at 11:59pm on September 7 and will run until September 14.
  • The first IM Affiliation Meeting will be on Wednesday, September 7 at 7:30pm.
  • Competition will take place from September 19 to November 4.
  • Fall championships will take place from November 4 to November 11.

Spring registration information:

  • Registration will be open starting at 6am March 1, and has been extended to 5pm March 9.
  • Deposits and outstanding fines are due to Bernice Ward in the Zesiger Center before 4pm on Friday, March 11. Checks or cash are accepted.
  • Each independent team owes a $75.00 deposit.
  • Each provisional organization owes $75.00 to cover all of their teams.
  • Your team must be registered on Athleague before you can pay your deposit.
  • Teams and affiliates that have outstanding fines after March 11 will not be scheduled.

MIT Staff are now eligible to participate in intramurals.
Undergrads, grads, faculty staff, spouses and members of MIT Alum Club of Boston are welcome to join MIT Intramurals.

To join intramurals:

  • You must have a DAPER membership and an MIT email address to participate
  • Go to http://mit.athleague.com/home to register
  • Sign in to join a team, create a team or list yourself as a free agent
  • Your team can enter as either Affiliated, Provisional or Independent - see http://web.mit.edu/athletics/www/intramurals/athchair/affiliationlist.html for an explanation and a list of Affiliations
  • Provisional affiliations will need to pay a refundable $75.00 to cover all of their teams
  • Independent teams that choose not to be part of an affiliation and register separately will need to pay a refundable $75.00 deposit to cover fines.
  • Fully Affiliated teams do not need to pay a deposit.
  • Fines are assessed for missing games or officiating assignments and are paid at the end of the season to maintain eligibility.
  • Staff and faculty teams will need to bring a copy of their roster when they pay their deposit

MIT Spring Intramurals Games begin March 28th
Registration Dates: Tuesday, March 1 - Tuesday, March 8
Deposits due by Friday March 11th
Spring Meeting: Tuesday February 8, 7:30pm, room 1-109. The new IM Exec Committee will be elected.
Managers for Spring Sports –interviews begin February 7th. Email im-exec@mit.edu if you are interested in managing a spring sport.

Reminder-Fall Sports Champions must pick up their tee shirts by March 18th!

Next general body meeting will be on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 7:30 PM. Attendance is required of fully affiliated and provisionally affiliated members.

Non-attendance will result in $15 fine as per the IM Handbook. You may send a proxy. The meeting will be held in Room 1-190

You have until this Friday Oct 15th at 4pm to pay any fines, fees, or deposits in order to play Winter and IAP sports. You must bring a check (made out to MIT AA) or cash to the 2nd floor of the Z-Center. No other forms of payment are acceptable!

As a reminder, the fees for Winter/IAP are as follows:
Air Pistol = $30/team
Winter Ice Hockey = $200/team
IAP Ice Hockey = $100/team

If your fines/fees/deposits are not paid by the deadline, your team will be removed from the league and your organization will not be able to play. NO EXCEPTIONS!

MIT Winter Intramural Sports! Winter Sports Registration will begin at 12:01 am Saturday Oct 2 and end Oct 8 at 11:59pm.

Registration is done on Athleague.com: Oct 2-Oct 8 Entry Fees and deposits can be paid from 9am-4pm Oct 12 -Oct 15 at the Intramural office in DAPER located on the second floor of the Zesiger Sports Center. Cash or check accepted. 4pm October 15th is the deadline for fees. No entries will be accepted after the deadline.

The following is the detailed information on each of the sports, any associated fees, and the period during which the seasons will run!

Basketball
Regular Season: Nov 15-Dec 3 and Feb 1- March 4 Regular Season Playoffs: March 5-March 11 IAP Season: Jan 3 -Jan 28

Ice Hockey
The IM Executive Committee is looking for a manager for Ice Hockey. The manager is responsible for learning to use Athleague.com, overseeing registration, creating a schedule, handling any conflicts and rescheduled games, and doing the necessary paperwork( ie reporting to the Executive Committee, filling out fine cards). The manager MUST be able to run the Winter and IAP sports seasons. If you would like to apply or have any questions about this paid position, please contact IM Exec.

Regular Season: Oct 18-Dec 3 and Feb 1 -March 11 (13 weeks)
Regular Season Playoffs: March 12-March 18 **The fee for Regular Season Ice Hockey is $200.**
IAP Season: Jan 3 - Jan 28 (4 weeks) **The fee for IAP Season Ice Hockey is $100.**

Air Pistol
The season will begin after the players have been safety trained. It will run during the fall and spring semesters (similar to Basketball). **The fee for Air Pistol is $30.**
