ALTERNATIVE METHODS TO EARN PHYSICAL EDUCATION POINTS
The following options are available as alternative activities to earn physical education points:
Varsity Athletics
ROTC
Group Exercise Classes
Personal Training Sessions
Private Swim Lessons
Students can earn physical education points for participation on varsity athletics teams. Upon the completion of each varsity season, the team head coaches submit physical education grades. The number of possible points is based on the sport and season of participation.
For all varsity sports, students can earn up to 4 points in their main season of competition. For sports with a split season (fall and spring), students can earn up to 4 points in their main season of competition and 2 points for the alternate season.
Students who quit the team, are cut from the roster, or asked to leave the team will not be awarded points.
If you have questions related to varsity points, contact the Physical Education Office at physedoffice@mit.edu.
Students can earn 2 points per year, for up to a maximum of 4 physical education points total, for participation in ROTC (Air Force, Army, Navy). Points are awarded for a full year of participation and are credited at the end of each academic year.
