To Members of the MIT Community:

Each year in May the Institute holds an Awards Convocation to honor students, faculty, and staff members who have made special contributions to the life of this community.

I am writing now to invite you to submit nominations for these Institute awards. A brief description of each award and a list of recent recipients are attached to give you a sense of the criteria for nomination.

If you wish to nominate someone for an award, please write a letter describing the person's qualifications and accomplishments and send it to the Awards Committee, Room W20-500. If you have other supporting documents, you might include them as well. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 17, 2000 unless otherwise noted. All nominations will then be forwarded to the proper selection committees for consideration.

The awards will be presented at the Awards Convocation on Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at 4:00 PM in Huntington Hall (Room 10-250).
