President Charles M. Vest cordially invites you to celebrate the restoration of Alvar Aalto’s Baker House!
October 2, 1999 For 50 years, this undergraduate residence has been an outstanding example of how thoughtful, creative architecture can enhance students’ social and educational experience. Please join us as we celebrate Baker House and its place in the world of architecture and the life of our community. This summer MIT completed a $24 million restoration of Baker House, the acclaimed residence hall designed by Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. The restoration, which renews the architect's original vision and brings the structure's systems to current standards, will ensure that the building serves a dynamic student life for the next fifty years.
