Barratt Park is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he attends graduate school at MIT. A frequent performer in the Boston area, Mr. Park recently made a switch from baritone to tenor and will make his tenor debut this Fall as Ezekiel Cheever in Boston Opera Collaborative's
The Crucible. Prior to the Fach change, he appeared in such varied roles as
Ping (Turandot),
Betto (Gianni Schicchi),
Alidoro (La Cenerentola),
and Vater (Hänsel und Gretel).
Also a fan of light opera, Barratt serves on the board of MIT's Gilbert and Sullivan Players, where he has appeared as
Florian (Princess Ida),
Captain Corcoran (HMS Pinafore),
Cox (Cox and Box),
Despard (Ruddigore),
and the Pirate King (The Pirates of Penzance).
Equally at home on the concert stage, Mr. Park is an Emerson Voice Scholar at MIT, where he performs with the MIT Chamber Music Society and has appeared as a soloist with the MIT Chamber Choir. Barratt has also been heard with the Paul Madore Chorale as the baritone soloist for
Carmina Burana. He now studies with Mark St. Laurent.
