I am currently a Ph.D candidate working with Professor McKinley in Non-Newtonian Fluid Dynamics Research Group, Mechanical Engineering Department at MIT.
I finished my undergraduate in Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. Later, I finished a Master of Applied Sciences degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of British Columbia; I was working in Applied Fluid Mechanics Lab with my previous adviser, Professor Green. Later I joined NNF research group at MIT in January 2011, working with Professor McKinley for my PhD research.
My main research interests are in experimental fluid dynamics of Non-Newtonian fluids. I am currently working on air-assisted atomization of Non-Newtonian liquids. Part of my research is also focused on extensional rheometry of dilute polymer solutions which includes experiments on capillary break-up and jetting of Non-Newtonian liquids.
During
my masters I also did research on jet and drop impact for both
Newtonian and viscoelastic liquids on stationary/moving substrates. Kelsan Technologies Corporation was
the main supporting industry for that special application. A
copy of my masters thesis can be found here.
I also enjoy doing research in other related topics such as hydrodynamic instabilities, high speed imaging of fluid phenomena, and wind tunnel testings.
And my research at MIT some days is just like this...:
