Game Stats

First Half Recap:

Returning home after three games on the road, the Engineers hoped to get back on the winning track. Freshman Adam Gibbons got the Engineers going with an easy lay-up but the game soon turned into a defensive struggle with both teams struggling to score. As the lead switched back and forth between the two teams, MIT went on a 6-0 spurt to end the half and take the lead as freshman Mike Huhs and sophomore Kyle Doherty were able to convert easy baskets inside. The Engineers led 23-17 at halftime.

Second Half Recap:

MIT continued to struggle offensively in the early part of the second half as WPI stormed back to retake the lead. With the Engineers trailing 43-37 with 9:48 remaining, MIT went on a 12-0 run to regain control of the game. Gibbons sparked the Engineers during that stretch with two consecutive 3-pointers while Huhs and Doherty continued to dominate inside. But again, MIT had trouble closing the game as WPI cut the lead to just two points with a minute remaining. After a missed shot by MIT with 0:40 remaining, the Engineers got a crucial stop on WPI's last possession to seal the game.
