Game Stats

First Half Recap:

MIT got off to a very sluggish start allowing RPI to jump out to a quick 14-3 lead. The only MIT player able to generate any offense in the early-going was freshman Adam Gibbons who had a three-pointer and several foul shots in the first half. Yet, MIT still struggled to find offense instead relying on their defense and timely foul-shooting to remain within striking distance, trailing RPI 29-19 going into halftime.

Second Half Recap:

The first play of the second half did not fare much better as RPI quickly converted a fast-break dunk to extend their lead. After a timeout by head coach Larry Anderson, MIT quickly responded, catching fire from beyond the arc. Gibbons and sophomore Andrew Tsai hit 3 three-pointers each and freshman Danny Kanamori also hit 2 three-pointers as MIT stormed back to take the lead. With RPI making a furious run to try to retake the lead, junior captain Neal Brenner hit a huge three-pointer from the wing to give the Engineers some breathing room. Down the stretch, sophomore Kyle Doherty and freshman Mike Huhs had several key blocks and rebounds and with a little over a minute left, Gibbons hit a deep three-pointer several feet beyond the arc to seal the victory.
