The Neural Control of Vision
L. The Processing of Depth

Interactions between depth cues provided with stereopsis and with motion parallax:

In real-life situations different kinds of depth cues typically appear in harmony. However, in experimental situations it is possible to present various cues singly, together in harmony, or in conflict with each other. Doing so enables us to determine what relative weights the brain assigns to the various cues and how these cues can facilitate or impede processing time. The rocking display shown in Figure 58 can be presented separately to the two eyes. The display cab be arranged so as to provide only disparity or motion parallax cues, and to present both cues together, either in harmony or in conflict with each other.
