percent correct versus disparityFigure 63 shows data obtained from a human subject using displays similar to those shown in Figure 59. The stimuli were presented briefly and the task was to pick out the location of the target from the distractors. The displays were presented either in harmony or in conflict. The magnitude of the target/distractor difference was varied randomly from trial to trial. The data show that when shading and disparity were in harmony the subject did very well. However, when they were placed in conflict, the subject did much more poorly and needed much larger disparity differences to make the discrimination.
