C. The Retina
Several
different classes of retinal ganglion cells have been identified, both
anatomically and functionally. Two major classes, that come as both ON
and OFF subtypes, are the midget and parasol cells. Anatomically they
look quite different as shown in Figure 5.
This figure shows the cell body and dendritic arbors as they appear looking
straight down on the retina.
