A. The Classification of Eye Movements


As shown in Figure 2 each eye has 6 extraocular muscles, the four recti and the two obliques. The eye muscles are innervated by three cranial nerves, the 3rd, 4th and 6th. The cell bodies of these nerves reside in the corresponding brainstem nuclei, the oculomotor, the trochlear and the abducens.
