Graduate Admissions FAQ’s - The MIT Application Form, Fee and Supplemental Materials

How do I obtain an application?
Visit the MIT Graduate Admissions website http://web.mit.edu/admissions/graduate/. You may apply online through CollegeNet our online application provider, or download the application and send to:

BE Academic Office
MIT, Room 56-651
Cambridge, MA 02139-4307

You may also request a paper application form by emailing be-acad@mit.edu , or calling 617.253.1712

Can the application fee ($75) be waived or deferred?
No, we understand the expense of applying to graduate programs; however, the application fee cannot be waived or deferred, the fee is a mandatory requirement set by the Institute which does not allow us to consider an application unless the application fee accompanies it.   The application fee is $75 and it can be paid by personal check, money order, MasterCard or Visa.

Will you notify me when you have received all of my application materials?
Once your application is submitted through collegenet, we will be able to start updating your application.  As we start processing materials for your application we will let you know what you are still missing by e-mail.   You will receive a final confirmation once all materials have been received by e-mail.
