Research Focus
The mission of the Laboratory for Computational Biology & Biophysics is to develop innovative computational technologies for the rational molecular engineering of complex biological systems. Toward this end, we focus on computational approaches that enable the physical interpretation of high information-content datasets including fluorescence light microscopy, electron microscopy, and chromatin interaction frequency maps with application towards understanding and controlling nucleic acid structure and cellular dynamics. Computational analysis of these information-rich datasets drives the generation and systematic evaluation of quantitative models that are firmly rooted in physics and chemistry, which can subsequently be tested and interpreted using molecular perturbations. For specific examples of this workflow please see our accompanying research and publications pages.
