Below is a list of offices
within the BE Student Board and a short summary of their responsibiities.
(These responsibilities tend to be flexible and people tend to help out
with other events in which they have an interest too.) Officers are elected
yearly at the end of the summer term.
All officers are expected
to attend monthly BE Student Board meetings and may be called upon during
the year to provide student advice/guidance on decisions by the Division.

The Student Board Coordinators
rganize and
run monthly BE board meetings. They ensure that BE board initiatives
are carried out and serve as contacts between the students and the
faculty/administration.

The
Secretary writes down the meetings' minutes, manages the BE
Board website, and puts together posters or other advertising material
for the BE Student Board.

The
Treasurer maintains an updated budget and keeps each committee
informed about their spending status. The treasurer also compares
expenditures with Mariann Murray monthly.

The
Academic and Industrial Seminars Chairs
aid in organizing the BE retreat, run annual student survey, analyze
and pass relevant results to BE administration. They also organize
study breaks for first years and help maintain BE Graduate Student
Handbook. Additionally, this position is in charge of identifying,
contacting, and hosting speakers from the industrial sector whose
experience and expertise would help prepare BE students for future
industrial positions and collaborations.

The
Social Chairs plan and organize monthly social events such
as the TGIFs. They aid in Division-organized events like BBQs and
the Holiday Party.

The
Athletic Chairs (1) advertise available IM sports to BE students
and faculty, (2) organize teams for the sports where interest exists
(~10 teams per year), (3) find captains for each team, (4) represent
BE at the IM sports affiliation meetings once per semester, (5) ensure
necessary equipment and jerseys are bought for BE IM teams, and (6)
manage the BE IM sports finances.

The BE Diversity Representative
on the BE Student
Board is a liaison between these two entities, and, as such, updates
their respective members with the visions, projects and concerns to
be communicated.

The Community Service
Chair increase efforts to increase BE's involvement
with community service projects.
- The BE Undergraduate
Curriculum Committee Representative is required
to attend all the curriculum committee meetings (3-4 meetings per term)
and report back to the BE Board. He/she is encouraged to suggest agenda
items for the committee on behalf of the BE Board. The representative
is expected to speak on behalf of the BE graduate students regarding
curriculum, advising, community/culture, and other issues at the regular
meetings. Special projects are often organized through subcommittees,
which include some permanent members of the committee, along with additional
ad hoc members who have special insight and expertise.

The GSC Representatives
represent BE
at meetings of the Graduate Student Council; keep the BE board informed
about the GSC; monitor the BE Board's Association of Student Activities
membership and seek additional funding for BE events through these
avenues.

The First-year Representative
facilitates
interactions between the BE Board and the first year class, as well
as represents the needs and opinions of the class.
