What is Discuss?
Here's a paragraph taken from

Discuss is a networked electronic conferencing system. Similar to the bulletin boards that have become popular on microcomputers, it differs in its accessibility from time-sharing machines and workstations on the network. Discuss allows a user to attend a set of electronic meetings for discussing various topics. Each meeting has its own specific focus, such as a project, class, or special interest.

where host is the host name of the Discuss server serving the
meeting, meeting is either the "short" meeting name or the full path to the meeting (if different than
/usr/spool/discuss/short-name), and
transaction is the number of the transaction in question.
For instance, the first transaction in the "Cheery_Thoughts" meeting is
available as

If the transaction number is omitted, a list of transactions is
returned:
http://www.mit.edu:8008/charon.mit.edu/ping/
If you are using full meeting names, the final "/" is required.
