MIT Bhangra was started as the Punjab Club in 1991. The club has since grown enormously while
adhering to the mission of exposing the community to the Punjabi culture through dance. In 1998,
the team took the name Noor-e-Punjab (Light of Punjab) and went to our first competition and
won second place. In 2002, the club became an officially recognized ASA group at MIT. The team
has participated in many competitions and a number of performances on campus and in the
Boston Area. The goal of MIT Bhangra has been and will continue to be to share bhangra and give
people a sense of what Punjabi culture is about.
