MIT Bhangra

join the tradition. join the lifestyle

Meet the team!

We Love Bhangra. A Lot.

We are a group of individuals from MIT and the Boston area who love Bhangra and are dedicated to exhibiting the energy and excitement that comes with it! Bhangra is a high-energy and upbeat folk dance from the state of Punjab in Northern India. It has grown in style and popularity over the years and today bhangra is celebrated on an international, competitive circuit.

Since our humble beginnings in 1991, we have grown enormously while adhering to our mission of exposing the community to bhangra traditions and culture. We have competed with some of the best bhangra teams in both the United States and Canada. We have performed at various showcases and at many of MIT's domestic events. Every summer, we teach bhangra to people in the Greater Boston area of all ages and skill levels. We also offer many services, including costume rentals and private performances. We strongly believe in our mission of spreading and sharing the bhangra lifestyle. After all, bhangra knows no race, color, or ethnicity - only talent and passion. and passion.

Interested in joining? We hold tryouts during the beginning of September! We can also accomodate special requests: bhangra-exec@mit.edu
