Mujata Husain (Saeed) Zuberi - (Abboo)

My hard-working father who spent many years of his life away from his wife and country to live in another place and earn for our family. He is retired now, but trust me he still has an iron grip on how the house is managed (J). He hails from Kanpur, India and that place is alway going to be very important in his and in my life. I admire him greatly for teaching us street-smartness and virtues of hard-work by implementing those principles in hi own life. He made it possible to send me here to study and make a future for our family and live up to his dreams. I pray for his good health and happiness.

 Yasmin Bano - (Ammi)

My mom, the sweetest mom on this planet (How can all kids not feel the same for their mothers?). She has protected me, on God knows how many occasions, the way a bird shelters her lil ones under her wings. She has been my greatest inspiration, support and friend. She is always there to understand, give me advice (and sometimes cash too!). She is the glue that brings our family together and has helped us deal with so many surprises in life. She is my communication link (quite literally) into the family writes regularly from Pakistan. My ambition is to provide for all the dreams that she has had for herself and for her children. Inshallah, by the grace of Allah and her prayers I hope to do so.

 Laeeq Fatima Zuberi - (Phooa)

The elder of the family. She persuaded my father to migrate from India to Pakistan and has stayed with us ever since. She has considered me her son and is responsible for all kinds of opportunities that I have found in my life (I can’t even start to list how her ambitions thrust me forward). She has been my motivator as far as education is concerned. Being a B.A/B.Ed herself, she got me admitted into the finest schools in the country and paved the way for my academic success. I know she cannot stop her tears every time she hears of a success of mine. To know someone loves you like that is a true blessing. She is now retired from a 35 year long career as a high school principal, but when she is not dealing with health issues, she is up and managing the critical projects at home. Her last project was to get Mahvash married off, and she has her eyes set on me now. I pray for her health and happiness.

 Faraz Zuberi - (Bhayya)

The next sibling in line after me. He got his in Bachelors in Mech Engg. at NED and an MBA at the Institute for Business Administration. He is working for a software firm but may move soon to something else. I have always been jealous of his good looks and better physique. Hopefully that has not affected my love for him at all. He took over my responsibilities once I left Pakistan and has totally taken control of the situation. My hats off to him for being so mature and leading the family in times of need. I have seen him grow from a kid to a strong man, but he is still my little brother and I love to tease him. He has seen me get better opportunities than him at times, but he knows that I will not let him down. I pray for his success and his future.

Hashim Zuberi

The little Edhi of the family. He is the honest true work-loving creature on the face of this planet. He does all the little itsy bitsy chores for the house and hence the ‘Edhi’ nickname. For a while he messed around with studies but can you believe he isnow doing a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry? He is kicking ass – just recently I reviewed a presentation he was going to deliver and it was indeed impressive. He has a very technical mind. Fixes things in a minute and is always there when you need him. He has more hair on his face than any of us brothers and I worry he would rather keep a beard than not (I will let you think why I worry about it)!. My family calls him my right-hand man because he has always been at my side in house-wrecking plans J. I am looking forward to him taking the academic path (maybe) that I never did. With prayers for success, I love you Hashim.

Mahvash Zuberi - (Manh)

The apple of my eye - She is the youngest in the family and the cutest of us all. She is simply our little pet, our little baby and our pride. I love her more than anybody else in this whole wide world, and she knows it too. She is like my own kid even though she has now grown to be quite a mature woman. Stunningly beautiful and amazingly graceful, she walks and talks like a princess. She is a big fashion freak but keeps it within the limits of Islamic dressing and Pakistani culture. And yes! She is now happily married to a loving man (Aeraj). They are busy figuring out where they will settle so no settling down as yet. I am not just her elder brother but also her friend. She knows who to call when confused or uncertain. May Allah protect her in life and give her happiness, prosperity and a loving family.

Coming Soon.......

Shabbir Husain Cheema - (Tony)

Shabbir Bhai has been with us for over 10, maybe fifteen years now. I remember him coming to us soon after he moved to Karachi from Gujrat, Punjab to work at the Naval DockYard. He is a fine soldier and a patriotic Pakistani. He was sent to protect my family when our father was living in the Middle East. He is like my brother now and I have shared my adolescence with him (since I wasn't allowed to drive alone). He knows a lot of my secrets but I trust him with everything. He is married now with kids and his entire family also lives in our house. May Allah provide him with success and his kids with the good education that he always dreamt of. He has already made me so happy by enrolling his son, Dilawar, in a good english-medium school. He is our loyal guard, driver, gardner, painter, house-cleaner and a lot more, besides being a loving brother.
