Mechanical and Biological Engineering

Postdoctoral Position Available: Development of nanoparticles for electrochemical energy storage and conversion

A postdoctoral position is available for a project focused on the development of nanoparticles for electrochemical energy storage. Research will involve characterization of nanoparticles both by electrochemical and physical techniques. Candidates that are highly skilled in the chemical synthesis of metallic and metal oxide nanoparticles will be considered. Experience with shape control and particles of multiple compositions (e.g., core shells) a plus. The candidate must be able to work collaboratively between multiple groups and should be adept at communicating scientific ideas to researchers in different areas of expertise. Candidates should have or be expecting a Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or related fields.

Interested applicants should send a CV, representative publications, and the names and contact information of at least three references to Yang Shao-Horn (shaohorn at mit dot edu) or Kim Hamad-Schifferli (schiffer at mit dot edu).

Undergraduate Researchers (UROPs)

The Hamad-Schifferli group is looking for highly motivated undergraduates majoring in biological engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, biology, or related fields. Projects typically involve wetlab work with some spectroscopy, and are hands-on.

Interested candidates should send a CV or resume to Kim Hamad-Schifferli (schiffer at mit dot edu).
