The Department of Biology has a variety of rooms available
for groups within the Department to use. Unfortunately, due to high demand
within the Department we are typically unable to extend room use to groups
outside the Department of Biology. Additionally we have LCD projectors
and laptops available. Please review our terms
and conditions before reserving a room.
To request a room, please fill submit the form below. You will
recieve a reply shortly. For more information email reserve68[at]mit.edu.

Terms and Conditions
The Department reserves the right to review
each prospective use and determine whether that use falls within the
conference room guidelines. Use of premises may be subject to change
or terminated at any time if the reservation conflicts with the needs
of the Department.
- User Responsibilities: The requester assumes all responsibility
for room setup, cleaning, damage, etc., including charges where applicable.
When requesting a room include adequate time for setup, if necessary.
When a reservation is made, keep a copy of the reservation email as confirmation.
Conference rooms must be restored to their original clean condition.
- Food and Beverage: All refreshments should be consumed
inside the meeting room, and disposed of properly at the end of the meeting.
For large events with food you should contact the Department
of Facilites to arrange for trash pickup.
- Room configuration: If you require a different
furniture arrangement, you may reconfigure the room according to your
needs with the understanding that you must return the room to its original
state. You are responsible for your own room setup — departmental
staff are not responsible for rearranging the meeting rooms. Room setup
can be arranged through the Department
of Facilites; there is a charge for their services.
We have tables available for rooms 68-180 and 68-181. If you intend
to set up the tables, please let us know so we can avoid potential
conflicts.
- Combining rooms 68-180 and 68-181: To combine the
two rooms, you must contact the Department
of Facilites to arrange for the wall to be taken down and
reset after your event. Additionally you must notify
us. It is vital to request adequate time before and after your event
for rearranging the rooms.
- After-hours events: Reservations after business
hours or on weekends are available, with restrictions. Please contact
us at reserve68 [at] mit.edu for information.
- Equipment loan: We have LCD projectors and laptop
computers (Mac and PC) available. They may be picked up and
returned during normal business hours (9:00–5:00)
in 68-132. You must sign out the equipment when borrowed, and sign it
back in when returned. If you need to use equipment after 5:00, please
keep it locked up in a secure place and return it first
thing the
following morning. Note to Mac users: You may require an adapter to connect
to the projector — we
have adapters available in BioHQ but it is best if you can provide your
own, as different models of Mac use different adapters. Additionally
we have laser pointers for loan.
- Class meeting times: Any changes to a class meeting
must go through the Biology Education Office. Contact Nick Polizzi (npolizzi[at]mit.edu).
