Christmas Tree Number 3
Sunrise from Plane
This is as we're flying out of Boston, too early in the morning. I like the colors, and I also like the fact that we're clearly flying over some sort of lava field.
Rental House
We stayed at the Full House Farm, a vacation house, as six people was a little much to squish into Jess and Dave's. It was really pretty.
Waterfall
The patio outside the rental house has this fountain/waterfall, very burbly.
And a cat!
Jerry with Bootsie, by the hot tub (which we were always getting back too late to play in).
Wild Turkey
These guys are hard to stalk close enough to get a picture of.
Tree Walk
People explored the nearby woods while Jess, Jerry and I went up to Clear Lake.
Amelia and Isabelle
Pictures of little kids always seem to be aerial shots.
Amelia Helping
She sits up here to help make dinner, which involves holding one of each ingredient and sorting them by cuteness.
More Amelia
(I never did get a picture of her holding up the baby mushroom)
Bok Choy
But Mom got one of her with the baby bok choy (also "cute") the next day.
Old Dude and New Dude
The first farm cat was renamed "Dude" from something un-namelike. Then they acquired a second cat which was already named Dude.
New Dude and Jerry
New Dude
Jerry was very impressed by New Dude's coloration and blue eyes.
New Dude snoozing
Old Dude snoozing
Guinea Hens
The chickens were featured in a previous trip; the guinea hens are new. They don't produce useful eggs, but are a noisy sort of watch-bird.
Erik and Pickle
A different sort of house bird. Pickle likes tall guys.
Sheep!
This isn't actually Jess's sheep, it's from the farm part of the rental house.
Bouncy Swing (Isabelle)
Babies really like these things.
Bouncy Swing (Amelia)
So do toddlers, apparently, even when they're way too big for them.
Tree Decorating
(This is actually before I got here; I swiped a bunch of Mom's pictures)
Lew and Isabelle
Isabelle is less interested on helping decorate the tree. She really likes faces.
More Lew and Isabelle
Amelia at Sand Table
I like the thoughtful look. (This is another picture from before or after I was there; this is at her day care.)
Gingerbread Cookies
A Schoch family tradition
Star Cookie
Eva won the "best cookie" prize.
Jigsaw Puzzle
Amelia was very excited about the 20-piece jigsaw puzzle we borrowed from the rental house. She's good at color-matching; orientation is still a little tricky.
Isabelle
More Isabelle
Isabelle
I've just stuck all the different random Isabelle pictures from Christmas here. They don't have very much context.

Reindeer Jess
Christmas morning!
Elf Jess
(Originally, the youngest kid got to be the present-distributing elf. But then she kept the job forever. :) ) This is some sort of flutey thing that was in her stocking (Mom clarifies that it is an Armadillo Flute from Costa Rica).
Jess & Amelia
Jerry is in the background reading the Civ IV manual.
Amelia and Moon Book
Amelia currently likes moons. She can't read yet, but there are pictures of the moons in the book.
Amelia in Rain Gear
Christmas presents. She was very enthusiastic about demonstrating the raincoat and umbrella.
Family on Sofa
Play Tent
Mom and Amelia and Isabelle play in the tent

Water Toys
These are those things that get bigger when you put them in water.
They've gotten lots bigger at this point.

More Taunting the Waves
The Waves Get Erik.
Erik Betrays Eva...
...and Eva Gets Wet...
...and Erik Flees...
...and Eva Stomps Off...
(well, not really. She's just walking.)

Going down some more
Almost gone
(with interesting cloud blockage)
Eat the Octopus!
Having spent several years being fed, Amelia is now keen to help other people eat.
Moon, Clouds, and Trees.
(not at the beach) This turned out (with curve-editing in Photoshop) better than I expected. I really like the black silhouettes of the eucalyptus trees against the moon-glowing grey clouds.
