Dealing with the River
To check the level of the river:
- Use the Hatfield measuring rod in the center of the river. Watch out for the current!
- Count the number of lines from the top of the rod to the level of the water.
- Each line you get is one day before the river shifts and covers the town.
To save the town from the river:
- Collect soil samples from the bottom of the river.
- Collect fresh rain water samples that have not mixed with the river.
- Collect river water sample from the middle of the river.
- Get some Miracle Concrete.
- Build a Plywood Dam Mold.
- Mix the soil and rain water samples with the Miracle Concrete.
- Pour it into the Plywood mold and make a test dam.
- Let the dam dry for 24 hours.
- Build a Plywood Dam Mold.
- Mix the soil and river water samples with the Miracle Concrete.
- Pour it into the Plywood mold and make a test dam.
- Let the dam dry for 24 hours.
- Test the two dams to deduce the correct ratio of rain water to river water.
- Build a Sheet Metal Mold
- Collect more river water and rain water samples.
- Mix up a new batch of Miracle Concrete with the right water ratio.
- Pour it into the Plywood mold and make a real dam.
- Let the underwater dam dry for 24 hours.
- Place the the Hatfield measuring rod across the river across at the Kissing Tree.
- Lower the underwater dam into the river at the third thick mark on the rod.
