Intuition: Donella's Kidnapping

2778.215 -- I've been thinking again about what we know of Donella's kidnapping

  1. Vance Wade is Sharra's nephew and a close friend of Donella.
  2. Liam Fairchild attempted to abduct Vance Wade about the time of Donella's abduction.
  3. When he was unsuccessful at abducting Vance, he instead made him a fugitive
  4. Liam Fairchild had a disk with the blue-green yin-yang on it which, when given the proper password, could decrypt encrypted messages.
  5. Liam Fairchild was being paid out of the Well.
  6. Liam Fairchild had been a member of the police for for many years.
  7. Liam Fairchild disappeared from Sanctuary within hours of our searching his apartment.
  8. Roger Lang was a member of the palace guard for a many years.
  9. Roger Lang accompanied Donella to her per-verifaction physical; she was kidnapped and replaced on the way back from this.
  10. Roger Lang had a silver and ceramic pendant with the blue-green yin-yang design on it.
  11. The imposter Donella was not uncovered until the verification ceremony itself, N days after the kidnapping.
  12. Roger Lang attempted to flee after the imposter was discovered.
  13. One of the three men who were captured with Roger Lang also had a pendant.

Based on that, I think...

The original plan was to brainwash Vance and use him as a social blocker for Donella during the initial period of the crossover, since the two of them were good friends. When he failed to be kidnapped he was made fugitive, as he was one of the few people close enough to her to recognize the personality change that occurred due to the swap, but wouldn't be able to do that from jail. ***Okay, Vance's theory about being replaced by a robot wasn't so far off the mark as we'd originally thought. (But still not robots...) Certainly the Terrans seem to make noticeably use of brainwashing technology.

Donella is almost certainly still alive, and in the hands of the yin-yang people. Given the deep cover nature of their operatives, there are probably at least a couple more still on Sanctuary.
