MIT-Soan BPS Mini Conference – 2008

We are delighted to invite you to the 3^rd Annual MIT-Sloan BPS Mini Conference. The conference will be held on May 9-10 (Friday and Saturday) at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. This document contains important information about registration, lodging, and conference logistics, so please read it carefully.

The conference is focused on organizational research from a variety of perspectives including organizational theory, economics, psychology, and sociology. This mini conference will highlight the work of junior scholars and allow presenters and participants to draw upon the diverse methods and approaches to organizational research. This year we’re fortunate to have terrific scholars (Emek Basker, Peer Fiss, Vibha Gaba, Yan Gong, Margaret Kyle, Ryon Lancaster, Megan MacGarvie, Louise Mors, Corey Phelps, Ashleigh Shelby Rosette, Ithai Stern, and Catherine Thomas) signed up to present, so it should be a fabulous conference. It is composed of 3 sessions with 4 papers each, taking place over Friday and Saturday. This structure allows for multiple opportunities for informal interactions between junior scholars.

Conference registration and activities:

To register for the conference please email Carolyn Mulaney – cmulaney@mit.edu – with your name, email address, and current institutional affiliation by April 17^th, 2008. There is no registration fee. The conference will run from Friday morning, May 9^th through mid-day on Saturday, May 10^th.

Travel:

The nearest airport is Boston’s Logan International airport. There are frequent flights to and from Logan from all major cities. Once in Boston you can take a cab to the hotel or you can take Boston’s public train system (the “T”) directly to the hotel: first, take the Sliver Line, which stops at each terminal, to its last stop - the Red Line South Station stop. Then, take the Red Line inbound (toward Alewife) to the Kendall Square stop. When you exit the train station you will be standing directly in front of the hotel.

Lodging:

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Marriott Boston Cambridge, 2 Cambridge Center, (Broadway & 3rd Street), Cambridge, MA, 02142, 617-494-6600 (about 2 blocks from the conference location) from May 9-10, 2008. The conference room rate is $186 per night plus 12.45% tax. Please contact the Marriott directly by April 17, 2008 to reserve your room. Rooms are held under MIT Sloan BPS Junior-faculty Mini Conference so be sure to refer to this.
