What is an email support group like?

An e-mail support group often consists of patients, caregivers, and, sometimes, medical professionals. Members can be adults or children or both depending on the list. Messages typically involve questions and responses related to medical, social and emotional issues experienced by patients. The number of messages posted to the support group can vary from one message every few days to more than ten messages a day for very active lists.

Some email support groups have an introductory page describing the specifics of the particular support group and instructions on how to join this support group. The following is an example of an introductory page for craniopharyngioma email support group.
