The study, in collaboration with Harvard School of Public Health, was to assess the ventilation system effectiveness in the community and college ice rinks in North America by the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technique. Detailed in-situ measurements on indoor air quality and air distribution have been conducted to verify the CFD results. The investigation explored several alternative ventilation systems and operating strategies for the rink design and operation.
