David Han, Class of 2014

Hailing from Newton, MA, David Han joined BUSA when he developed an interest in neurobiology, and in particular, the molecular mechanisms of learning, emotions, and brain disorders. David currently conducts research on spinal cord injury and neuronal axon regeneration in the Langer Labs at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research.

Divya Pillai, Class of 2015, Co-President

Divya is a sophomore in Course 6-7. She has participated in research at the Koch Institute in tumor-stroma interaction. She loves to sing, especially operatic soprano arias. She is an Emerson scholar in voice, and participates in MIT's Chamber Chorus. She also sings with and arranges for the MIT Ohms, an a cappella group that fuses Bollywood and Western music.

Geronimo Mirano, Class of 2016

Geronimo is a freshman who plans to study Computational Biology. Although Computer Science has always been a passion of his, it wasn't until his Senior year of high school that he became enthralled with Biology, and he now aspires to be a medical researcher. In his free time Geronimo reads nonfiction, writes computer programs, and plays chess.

Jenny Zhang, Class of 2016

Having lived in three countries, Jenny is thrilled to call MIT her new home. She is interested in biology and plans to pursue a career in medicine. As a part of BUSA, Jenny hopes to share her passions for science and volunteering by connecting MIT students to more research and service opportunities. She also enjoys music, traveling, and fishing.

Jonathan Gootenberg, Class of 2013

Jonathan is a senior majoring in biological engineering and mathematics. Jonathan enjoys lunches with professors, tandem mass spectrometry, and long walks on the beach.

Olivia Papa, Class of 2014

Olivia hails from the Central Florida area and is majoring in Courses 7A and 15 (Biology, Management) with a minor in Economics. In addition to BUSA, she is actively involved in Greek Life, Course 10B undergraduate research, and the Network for Sloan Undergraduate Women. When not finishing problem sets or running 5ks, she loves to travel as well as bake desserts.

Prakriti Paul, Class of 2015

Prakriti is a sophomore majoring in Biology and is doing research on alternative splicing mechanisms in Phillip Sharp's Lab, and has since become obsessed with Molecular Biology. Apart from Biology, Prakriti is an active member of MITIV Christian Fellowship, MURJ, iHouse (International Development House), and D-Lab; and is a happy person excited about life!

Sarine Shahmirian, Class of 2014

Sarine is majoring in Computer Science & Molecular Biology. In addition to BUSA, she enjoys participating and holds leadership positions in the MIT Undergraduate Research Journal and the MIT Armenian Society. She is also a member of the MIT Ballroom Dance Team.

Victoria Lu, Class of 2013, Co-President

Victoria is a senior majoring in Biology, and conducts research in the Sharp lab at the Koch Institute. She likes science, food, film, photography, music, sports, computers, the great outdoors, and spontaneous adventures. She also somehow made this website.
