77 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139
The main entrance of MIT campus known as Building 7 (Roger Building). There was a lovely story behind this address published in Technology Review recently. One piece of the land, actually a small island, on which MIT was to build its new campus was owned by a lady. It was on this island this lady met an MIT alumina who was stranded there. Soon they fell for each other and married in 1877. Unfortunately the man passed away a few years later, and the lady held this piece of land dearly. One of the conditions the lady set forth for MIT's land acquisition was to use 77 Massachusetts Avenue as the address to commemorate their marriage.
