Great Sail and Green Building
East of the Dreyfus Building is the McDermott Court where the tallest building, Green Building (Building 54, designed by I. M. Pei), is located. The Great Sail (a.k.a. the Big Sail) was designed to alienate the "wind tunnel" effect of the area to ease the operation of the rotary doors at the base of the Green Building. The Big Sail is also a favorite spot of student pranks. Here in this photo, an IHTFP hack is up, and IHTFP is hackers' favorite motto. A scale-down version of the sail, called the Small Sail, is located in front of Building 9 on Mass. Ave.
